Videopoetry Film Festival in Kiev, Ukraine

Location

Location: Kiev, Ukraine, 10A Naberezhno-Khreshchatynska Str., Port Creative Hub

Dear all,

On November 25-26, the VI. CYCLOP Videopoetry Festival will be held at the Port Creative Hub (Kyiv, Ukraine).

CYCLOP is a festival where verbal meets visual. The territory of co-existence and co-creation for filmmakers and writers. The space for new poetic experiences, the interaction between different types of art and their transformation. The festival where the poetic word acquires visible meanings and forms.

Within this year’s festival edition, we’ll hear about videopoetry as a genre (Tom Konyves, Canada). We’ll talk on the co-existence and interaction in the art of poetic and digital (Olha Mykhailyuk, Artpole). We’ll learn about the experiences and experiments of Ukrainian artists in this genre (production studio OFF Laboratory, art association SHCHOHLA). We’ll get acquainted with the relevant practices of foreign authors, festivals, and creative groups (Oslo international poetry film festival, Birgit Hatlehol, Norway; PoetryFilm, Zata Banks, UK). And, of course, we’ll watch the best examples of the world’s videopoetry, as within the festival there will be screenings of short lists of both the Ukrainian and International Competition CYCLOP’17, in terms of which video poets from 27 countries were fighting for victory.

What distinguishes videopoetry as a genre, as an art form? Why combine the word with sound, video or performance? How did it happen that the poem went beyond writing and declamations, that are common for it? What is the word’s potential and ability to interact, and where to look for those new poetic experiences? November 25-26 – come to the Port Creative Hub, and you’ll find out everything.
