In its eighth year, Cadence Video Poetry Festival remains the only festival dedicated to the form in the Pacific Northwest. The festival program includes an opening preview and four themed screenings with works selected from an open call for submissions, including video poetry by members of the 2025 screening team, new work from two artists-in-residence, and Cadence workshop outcomes.

This showcase takes many lovers, breaks many hearts, and holds many hands to embrace all the forms of intimacy, from unconditional to unrequited.

April 26 at 4pm | my more-than-me

Tapping into the collective unconscious, this showcase excavates shared knowledge buried just below the surface.

April 26 at 7pm | grounding into the space

In the face of displacement, exile, conformity, and crisis, these video poems approach existence as resistance.

April 27 at 4pm | we effervesce minutely

Through mantras, photographs, and windows the works in this showcase offer a glimpse into eternity while embracing the temporary.

In conversation with the wondrous domestic landscape of Dawn Cerny: Portmeirion, this festival preview event features video artists who excavate and archive personal, familial, and found histories through language, craft, movement, and play. Hybrid Festival Passes include in-person access to this program! If you plan to attend, your name will be at Will Call.

Welcome Lilián Pallares and Charles Olsen, traveling from Spain to present at Cadence! They will take part in the conversation following the Frye Art Museum preview, present a poetry reading before the Saturday matinee screening at Northwest Film Forum, and host a craft talk during the Cadence Casual gathering ahead of the Saturday evening showcase.

One week before the festival opens in Seattle, we’ll be traveling to Albuquerque to present Hybrid Embrace, a showcase at the most excellent festival, Experiments in Cinema, as it celebrates its 20th year of getting weird. If you’re in New Mexico, come say hi!
