The main prize for German-speaking countries goes to the film "talking to a survivor" by Milena Olip from Austria. Our warmest congratulations! Jury statement:
The film "Talking to a survivor", based on a text by Erich Fried, gets to the heart of the essential human problems of Western society today: alienation from nature, alienation from oneself as alienation from love. The poetry film tells the story of a man who works in shifts at the Glock arms factory in Carinthia and neglects his farm. It is criticized from the perspective of a child. The film shows that people produce weapons and how the traditions of farming are dissolving in the background. Behind the Carinthian landscape idyll, the threatening death idyll of weapons production is revealed in the final scene as the quintessence of our diverse self-destruction. We congratulate Milena Olip on this precise diagnosis of our society and its abysses.

The Audience Award 2023 went to the palestinian film IN BETWEEN | PS | 2020 | 15 min | Film language arabic | Director: Khaled Tanji |Poet: Khaled Alsaid
A woman in her thirties remembers the neighborhood in Palestine where she grew up before the war. As she stands in front of a large tree, its smell takes her on a journey to a neighborhood where life no longer exists.

AND THE WINNER IS ...

SPECIAL AWARD 2023

The Special Award after the film adaptation of Manfred Chobot's poem "la luna" went to Poetaq from Japan for its film adaptation of the poem with the same title.
Jury statement: Above an evening forest and mountain landscape that constantly changes its colors stands a full moon, which also constantly changes its color. The text of the poem appears in the foreground in written form. But the spoken text detaches itself from the image, rising up to become a kind of angelic voice from the sky, which even satirizes the words. This text film surprises in its urgency and convinces as an independent work of art.
